Our Program

Anthropology is the holistic study of human life, past and present. Anthropologists use a four-field approach to study humanity, drawing on knowledge from cultural, linguistic, and biological anthropology as well as archaeology.

The Anthropology Program at Eastern Kentucky University offers:

  • B.A. in Anthropology
  • Minor in Anthropology
  • Minor in Archaeology

As a student in our program, you will gain exposure to all four fields. To learn more about the differences between them and the courses we offer in each specialization, follow the links to Cultural Anthropology, Biological Anthropology, and Archaeology.

Anthropology is also an applied science, meaning that anthropologists seek to apply their knowledge in order to solve human problems. To learn more about opportunities to participate in applied research or other independent research opportunities with our faculty members, download our Program Brochure and check out our Faculty Directory.
