Dr. Amanda Green
Department
Department of Anthropology, Sociology, and Social Work
What class are you teaching during the winter session?
ANT 120 Introduction to Cultural Anthropology
What feature would you like to highlight about this particular class?
Students in this course will explore the diversity of human cultures as well as their own cultures. For example, they will complete kinship charts (family trees), conduct interviews with friends and family, observe events such as religious ceremonies, and discuss pressing social issues. It will be an engaging class!
Why would you recommend that students take this Winter course?
The course satisfies Gen Ed Element 5b, and if you're spending time with family and friends during the Winter semester, this class will provide you with activities and discussion topics in cultural anthropology that might engage your family and friends.
What is your favorite seasonal activity to participate in during winter break?
My favorite winter break activity is skiing. I grew up in West Virginia, so I'm hoping to spend a lot of time with my family in the hills of West Virginia.
